During my Artist Residency at Sanctuary Slimane, a 10 hectare permaculture farm just outside of Marrakesh, Morocco I leaned into a visceral engaging artistic practice. On my last day I went for a very slow farewell wander around the gardens I had come to be very familiar with and organically began collecting pieces lying on the garden soils which alchemized into a series of pieces honouring the colours, textures, and life birthed from these lands. It was a sensorial creative process with hours spent kneeling between the vegetable rows, wandering slowly gazing at my surroundings, noticing what I hadn’t yet given time to, and connecting to Earth’s materials while piecing it together.
